cement alkalinity variation

Oct 01, 2013· The diffraction pattern for the activated fly ash differed clearly from the cement trace. The main alkaline activation product was anX-ray-amorphous N-A-S-H gel [31], normally identified by the presence of a halo at 2θ = 25–40°, i.e., at slightly higher values …

  • Influence of Pore Solution and Cement Alkalinity on ASR
Influence of Pore Solution and Cement Alkalinity on ASR

Mar 05, 2013· The experiment showed that the ASR related expansion in concrete is correlated with pore solution alkalinity and cement alkalinity. If we consider cement alkalinity the correlation is almost linear (R 2 =0.99) at early ages (28-day expansion). The variation starts atlater ages (56-days) which indicate that pore solution/cement alkalinity effect is linear within first month and non-linear at later age.

Effects of High Alkalinity on Cement Pastes

Increasing thealkalinityofcementpastes by adding sodium hydroxide is known to increase the initial rate of hydration, thereby increasing early strength. The effects on the microstructure and other properties are unclear. The present study examines the influence of NaOH addition on the rate ofcementhydration, surface area and porosity as ...

Jan 15, 2016· When alkali content of cement increases, or total alkali content of concrete increases, the potential for ASR in concrete increases , , . A study on the ASR induced expansion of concrete with alkali content of cement varying from0.9% to 1.25% Na 2 O eq was conducted by Rogers et al. [12] .

Chemical testing includes oxide analyses (SiO 2, CaO, Al 2 O 3, Fe 2 O 3, etc.) to allow the cement phase composition to be calculated. Type II cements are limited in C150/M 85 to a maximum of 8 percent by mass of tricalcium aluminate (a cement phase, often abbreviated C 3 A), which impacts a cement’s sulfate resistance. Certain oxides are also themselves limited by specifications: For example, the …
